Starter 1 Look over the unit 2 Portfolio file to remind yourself of each task if you have not already printed it of then do so. 2 Now look over your feedback sheet and make a note of which tasks you need to complete and/ or upgrade.

Assignment 1: A diverse and Equal Society • Task 1 (P1) • Define : Equality, Stereotype, Diversity and Discrimination • Research and collate information and images about different social factors that contribute to a diverse and equal society. Make a poster in the form of a mind map to show your findings. • Task 2 (P1) • Research and collate information about different political factors that contribute to a diverse and equal society. Explain why each piece of legislation or act has helped individuals who may have been discriminated against. • Task 3 (P1) • Research and collate information about different biological factors that contribute to a diverse and equal society.

Assignment 2: Individual rights of people who use services • Task 1 (P2) • Define Rights, Respect and Dignity • Scenario: • Using the information on page 38 and 39 identify the rights of people who use care services. Choose one of the following and give an example of how each right could be applied in the setting. • A doctors surgery • A care home for the elderly

Assignment3: Principles and values which underpin the support for individuals who use services • Task 1 (P3,) • Create a presentation that explains why the following are important to consider in heath and social care settings. Use images and examples. (text book page 40 and 41) • Social Justice • Person centered approach • Right to life • Honesty • Empathy • Confidentiality M1Add a slide to your Presentation which discusses how applying ethical values could be difficult and barriers which could affect them being applied • Evaluate the impact of not applying them

Assignment 3 (Cont) • Task 2 (P3, M1)( Use Student book reference 44 and 45) Make a booklet for staff in a hospital explaining; • What confidentiality is • Why it is important? • The types of information that is confidential • What is a disclosure? • When might it be necessary to breach confidentiality? • What are the consequences of breaking confidentiality without good reason? • What is the data protection act? Booklets must be detailed In order to attain merit status

  6. D1 - Worker responsibilities • Read pages 42 and 43 • Briefly explain each of the worker Responsibilities. • Read the case study “Medical receptionist” • Do not answer the questions BUT Discuss how a medical receptionist could apply each of the responsibilities listed.

  7. Plenary • Have you completed all tasks? • Have you completed all tasks according to your target grade? • Have you made your best effort? • Will you need to attend a lunchtime or after school catch up?
