  1. Act Two, Scene 2 Lines 90-179 By: Katie Hollins and Becca Miller But really by Shakespeare so get it right!!

  2. The Characters Involved *Polonius – Ophelia’s father *Queen- Hamlets Mom *King- Hamlets Uncle, Hamlets mothers new husband *Hamlet- The Prince *Ophelia- The girl Hamlet loves?!?!

  3. What is Happening? In this part of Hamlet, Polonius, is reporting to the King and Queen the reason why he thinks Hamlet has lost his mind. He brings to the castle the note Hamlet gave to his daughter. Hamlet tells of his souls desires for her. Polonius is an assistant to the state also known as a minister and feels that Hamlet is over qualified to be flirting with Ophelia. It is his duty to report the note to the King and Queen since he knows it is inappropriate and might be the reason Hamlet is going in a downward spiral. Polonius told his daughter to ignore Hamlet at all costs, hoping he would move on. Polonius thinks his plan backfired and that is what sent Hamlet into a deep depression. The King, Queen and Polonius hatch a plan to see if this the reason why Hamlet is having a breakdown.

  4. Quotes: ACT II SCENE II “In her excellent white bosom, these ext. (117)” Hamlet “Lord Hamlet is a prince out of thy star. (146)” Polonius “Fell into a sadness, then into a fast, Thence to watch, thence into a weakness, (151-152)” Polonius

  5. Commentary • I feel that Hamlets step father (King) is only acting worried about Hamlet to please his mother (Queen). • I feel that Ophelia is wrong to turn Hamlets note into her father because even though her dad told her to, what Hamlet was saying is personal and was not meant for Polonius to read. What Hamlet said to Ophelia was sex letter.
