  8. Belief and Science • What will this unit involve?

  9. Belief and Science • In a nutshell, this unit is about exploring the relationship between Christianity and Science. We have a slight head start as we have already studied Christianity. We will explore the relationship between the two world views and study the different opinions people hold.

  10. Area 1: Sources of Human Understanding Area 2: What is the Origin of the Universe? Area 3: What is the Origin of Human Life?

  11. Area 1: Sources of Human Understanding • Area 1 is a study of Christian Revelation and Scientific Enquiry. It gives us the foundations to understand the two perspectives which is necessary before we go deeper in

  12. Area 2: What is the Origin of the Universe? • Area 2 involves a study of the different views about how the world got here. Was the universe created by God or did it happen with the Big Bang? • Are the different views in conflict? Can they be compatible? • We will also study the different views that people have on these questions

  13. Area 3: What is the Origin of Human Life? • Area 3 involves specifically looking at the question “what is the origin of human life?” • We will look at the scientific view and the Christian view • We will ask the questions: Is there a conflict? Are they compatible? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each interpretation?

  14. Collect a new folder and jotter • Mark them “Higher RMPS – Belief and Science” • Include your name Belief and Science Higher RMPS (your name here)

  15. Use your dividers to mark the three areas of this unit in your folder Area 1 Area 2 Area 3

  16. The Book • We will continue to use the purple RMPS book in class • However, you will be expected to do personal study at home • You will be given a copy of the Belief and Science book to do this
