  3. GOALS (2) • Reliable manufacturer origin and date range data for the most representative lamp types. • Documented references to context-dated parallels, for reliable use in publication. ILC III Heidelberg

  4. Typology • All existing typologies should be provided for cross-reference, • but no attempt will be made to superimpose a new typology. ILC III Heidelberg

  5. PHASE 1: SHAPE ANALYSIS • Feature trees for • General Shape (fuel chamber form) • Nozzle • Disc • Handle • Shoulder • Base • Useful for fragments and intact lamps ILC III Heidelberg

  6. PHASE 2: FABRIC ANALYSIS • Feature trees for • Fabric Color & Quality • Glaze /Slip • Manufacturer Quality ILC III Heidelberg

  7. PHASE 3: MOTIF ANALYSIS • Possibly Feature trees for • Signatures • Symbols and Motifs ILC III Heidelberg

  9. How to contribute • For each sample, send: • JPG image: Top (with mm scale), • (additional optional images): Right profile, Back profile and Base images. • hi-res images at 300 dpi resolution. Images will be resized and converted to screen resolution for the web. • Description detail, include inv number • Context, date and published parallels. ILC III Heidelberg
