  2. Transnational Cooperation Programme for SEE DMCSEE project April 2009 – March 2012 15 partners from 9 countries Total project budget 2.2 M€ Not all countries participate! (not all countries are eligible) In the summer of 2010 all administrative issues were solved and the last partner contract to enable use of IPA funds was signed. THE REAL WORK STARTED! Consequently, there is about half a year of delay in the realisation of the project.

  3. DMCSEE – recent events 2nd meeting of DMCSEE TCP project consortium 1st Training on climatological practices Budapest, 1st – 5th February 2010

DMCSEE – recent events 1st Training on climatological practices- CLIMATOLOGICAL HOMOGENIZATION AND INTERPOLATION METHODS Lesson learned: How to interpolate point data and prepare maps of drought indices which can be exchanged and intercompared – this can potentially be used for preparation of regional climatological and drought monitoring products.

  6. DMCSEE – recent events 2nd Training on irrigation scheduling systems Lesson learned: How to prepare meteorological data and use WinISAREG model to assess crop needs for irrigation and crop yield reduction in case of water stress.

DMCSEE – ongoing activities Training workshop on drought risk assessment for the agricultural sector Ljubljana, September 20 – 24, 2010 (EARS premises) Organized by WMO and UNDP in the framework of the Regional Programme on Disaster Risk Reduction in South East Europe (financed by EC DG Enlargement)

DMCSEE – ongoing activities TCP project – current status Finalizing report on implementation of SPI index (expected by end of September 2010, in preparation by the EARS) Finalizing report on drought archive, chronology of impacts and mitigation measures (expected in October 2010, in preparation by the Agricultural university of Athens). Preparations of implementation of optimum irrigation scheduling software (training completed in June, further instructions in preparations by Soil institute “N. Pushkarev” from Sofia). Next TCP project meeting scheduled in November

DMCSEE – ongoing activities Secondment of staff to DMCSEE in the framework of WMO/DRR project 2 experts - one from Bosnia and Herzegovina and one from Turkey have been nominated to assist DMCSEE and prepare drought monitoring products for both countries. Both experts will start their stay in EARS headquarters in Ljubljana in last week of September and finish the stay in the middle of December 2010.
