Aims • Sörmland municipalities will actively contribute to the realisation of the Lisbon Strategy in order to reach positive growth and development in the region. • Increased awareness and understanding of the indicators’ importance for development of the region. • Contribute to dissemination of knowledge about our EU membership.

  9. Indicator – economic growth • Discussion in each municipality, spring 07, and summarised in joint strategy. • E.g Sörmland is growing faster than the national average

  10. Indicator – population growth • Employment rate % • Employment rate, people from non-Nordic countries • Wage levels for immigrant population • Accumulated results/increased turnover • Number of newly started companies

Where we stand todayProject organisation • Operative project management group set up comprising chief executives and the Regional Council’s managing director • The executive committees of the Regional Council and the municipalities form a steering group, charged of two politicians • The Regional Council is responsible for coordinating external stakeholders, collecting and processing data, etc.

General thoughts and questions with focus on to help the politicians • How to combine political ambitions/region challenges with relevant statistic • How to force the politicians to really own the project • More regional statistics is needed • Important with the dialogue • with the citizens (EU on the marketsquare) • Horizontal dialogue/vertical dialogue • Is it necessary to have right to • local taxes to create results?
