CCTs Programmes: what they are Mean-tested cash benefit given to households under poverty line Focus on family Cash benefit is paid to the woman (with kids) Conditioned on household participation in services, usually: –– Children’s school attendance (about 80%) school –– Preventative health care such as pre--natal and postnatal check--ups, vaccinations, growth monitoring Often includes ‘‘supply--side’’ components improving health and education infrastructure and services Few programs include training/ work as condition
