Major Challenges • Lack of data • Bureaucratical impediments (e.g., travel permits) • Underfunding of development programmes due to limited donor interest • Environmental degradation, hence severe drought and floods • Lack of access to basic services • Poor infrastructure • High urbanisation rates with high divide rural/ urban populations • Conservative society with gender inequalities • Growing IDPs and Refugee populations

Health system decentralisation in Kassala • Poor infrastructures • Low capacity • Spread malnutrition • High HIV rates • Good partnership CONTRIBUTION:2.970.000 EURO Activities: • Rehabilitation of public health infrastructures • Local communities mobilization • Technical assistance and support to the SMoH • Support to the training centers and management staff
