  4. Road Commissions: • Have no taxing authority • Receive no direct revenue from property taxes • Receive most of their funds from fuel taxes and vehicle registration fees Michigan Townships Association 2006 Annual Educational Conference

  5. Responsibility • McNittAct of 1931, and • Public Act 51 of 1951 require Michigan county road commissions to be responsible for allpublic roads (exclusive of Federal and State roadways) outside incorporated cities and villages. Michigan Townships Association 2006 Annual Educational Conference
