  1. Square and Cube Roots

  2. Perimeter • The Distance Around • Add all the sides • For a SQUARE – Multiply the length of the side by 4 (SIDE LENGTH) ∙ 4 • Examples

  3. If Perimeter of a SQUAREis Given to You • Divide the Perimeter by 4 • Example: Perimeter of a square is 100, find the length of each side

  4. SQUARE a Number • To square means to multiply a number by itself • 5 ∙ 5 = 25 or 5² = 25 • 8 ∙ 8 = 64 or 8² = 64 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100 To find the AREA of a SQUARE: Square the length of the side (Side Length)²

  5. SQUARE ROOTS Find the number that multiplied by itself is the Square. Example √81 √49 √16 √100

  6. If Area of a SQUARE is Given to You • Take the Square Root of the Area Examples: Area of the Square is 64. What is the length of each side?

  7. CUBE a Number • Find the number multiplied by itself three times • 4 ∙ 4 ∙ 4 = 64 or 4³ = 64 • 2 ∙ 2 ∙ 2 = 8 or 2³ = 8 • 6 ∙ 6 ∙ 6 = 216 or 6³ = 216 • To find the VOLUME of a CUBE: Cube the length of the side (Side Length)³

  8. CUBE ROOTS Find the number that multiplied by itself three times is the cube. Find the Cube Root of: 2744 512 1331 729

  9. If VOLUME of a CUBEis Given To You • Take the Cube Root of the VOLUME Example: If the VOLUME of a CUBE is 125 in³, what is the length of each side of the cube? More Examples
