6. Jem (continued) • Jem asks Mr Radley if he put cement in the knothole. • Jem asks Atticus if the tree is dying. • Jem cries a little bit by himself when he hears the answer from Atticus.

7. The knothole in the Oak tree • Jem and Scout found grey twine in it. • They found two carved images in soap. 8. Mr Nathan Radley • He tells Jem he filled the knothole of the tree with cement. • He says that is what you do when a tree is dying.

9. Atticus • Atticus says in his opinion the tree with the knothole is not dying. • When he hears that Mr Nathan says it was dying he said Mr Nathan must know his own trees better than Atticus.
