  1. POSSESSIVES AND GERUNDSANDEITHER / OR Prime 2 Unit 5

  2. You will read a problem situation. First, say how you feel, using possessives and gerunds. Next, give two possible solutions, using either / or. Compare with your teacher’s suggestions.

  3. EXAMPLE: Problem: Sharon disturbs the class. She talks too loud and she distracts the students. 1) How do you feel? 2) Give 2 possible solutions. She should either wait to talk at break time or stay home and study alone. I do not appreciate Sharon’s disturbing the class.

  4. Problem 1: The children make too much noise and I can’t study. They should either play outside or they could watch TV silently. I do not appreciate their making so much noise.

  5. Problem 2: Timmy and Kathy litter. Their littering drives me crazy. I can’t stand their littering. They should either throw it in the trash can or hold on to their trash until they find a trash can.

  6. Problem 3: My classmate, Billy, speaks too low. I can’t understand him clearly. Billy’s not speaking clearly annoys me. His mumbling gets on my nerves. Billy should either speak louder or he should talk into a microphone!!!

  7. Problem 4: Yuri always wants to borrow my material. I am annoyed at his insisting on borrowing my material all the time. Yuri should either bring his own material or do without.

  8. Problem 5: Mike answers the cell phone in the library. I feel that his answering the cell phone in the library is really annoying. He should either turn off his cell phone or answer it outside in the hall.

  9. Problem 6:Jane never stops complaining. I am not very pleased about Jane’s constant complaining. Jane should either stop complaining or offer a solution to the problems that annoy her.

  10. Problem 7: My neighbors’ music is too loud. I can’t listen to MY music!! I can’t stand their playing such loud music. They should either turn down the music or use headphones.

  11. Problem 8: My parents don’t trust my friends. I resent my parents’ not trusting my friends. My parents should either get to know my friends better or meet my friends’ parents.
