Run-on Sentences

  • A run-on sentence is a sentence in which two or more independent clauses (complete sentences) are joined without punctuation (comma, semicolon) or conjunction (and, so).

  • Example:

  • The sun is high put on some sun block.

  • Correction:

  • The sun is high. Put on some sun block.

  • A long sentence is not always a run-on.

    A Centerville man is dead and another person seriously

    injured after a rush-hour collision on Chester Street on

    Tuesday afternoon.

  • Run-ons can be as short as four words.

  • I walk she drives.
