  2. Perfunctory Definition – Automatic and unthinking. (adj.) Synonyms – Careless, cool, laid-back, uninterested. Sentence- The boy was perfunctory when he was riding his bike, he didn’t hold on to the handle bars or wear a helmet.

  3. Meticulous Definition – Taking or showing extreme care about minute details; precise; thorough. (adj.) Synonyms- Accurate, cautious, exact, picky, strict. Sentence- The girl was very meticulous while painting her picture, she wanted a good grade, so she took her time and do a good job.

  4. Lament Definition – To express grief for or about; mourn. To regret deeply; deplore. (v.tr.) To grieve audibly; wail. To express sorrow or regret. (v.intr.) A feeling or an expression of grief; a lamentation. A song or poem expressing deep grief or mourning. (n.) Synonyms – Cry, bawl, howl, weep , wail. Sentence – The girl was listening to a lament song and ended up crying because the song had reminding her of a love one she lost.

  5. Paraphernalia Definition – Furnishing used in or necessary for a particular activity; equipment. (n.) Synonyms – Gear, material, stuff, effects, baggage. Sentence – For softball practice, I need to make sure I have my paraphernalia, if I don’t bring it, I’ll have to sit out and make the team run.

  6. Despotic Definition – Dictorial. (adj.) Synonyms – Absolute, oppressive. Sentence – Adolf Hitler was a very despotic man, he was in charge of the horrible event we all know as the Holocaust, where almost six Million Jews lost their lives.

  7. Tangible Definition – Real, concrete. (adj.) Synonyms – Actual, evident, gross, visible, definite. Sentence – The liger is a tangible animal, it is a tiger and lion combined, these animals are very rare.

  8. Sensuous Definition – Gratifying to senses. (adj.) Synonyms – Rich, pleasurable, luscious, exciting, passionate. Sentence – Prince Royce is a sensuous man to many females, he is an amazing singer and is very attractive. Prince Royce

  9. Prima Donna Definition – Indicating the most important performer or role, the lead, someone with the qualities of a diva. (adj.) Synonyms – Diva, first lady, headliner, leading lady, topliner. Sentence – Tyra Banks, the producer of “America’s Next Top Model” is a great example of a prima donna, she’s a role model for many teens and adults and is well known for her amazing portraits.   10. Garrulous Definition – Talkative, wordy, excessively talkative. (adj.) Synonyms – Babbling, chatty, gossip, loquacious, motormouth. Sentence – The girl was very garrulous at home so her mother decided to tape her mouth shut so she could get some sleep.

  11. Syntax Definition – The way in which words are arranged. (n.) Synonyms – Order, pattern, structure, system. Sentence - The boy kept his words in a syntax so that he could remember the definitions and synonyms.

  12. Sagacious Definition – Wise. (adj.) Synonyms – Common sense, clear thinking, intelligence, experience, knowledge. Sentence – The priest was very sagacious when he prays, he never laughs or takes praising the Lord as a joke.

  13. Ravenous Definition – Extremely hungry; famished; voracious. (adj.) Synonyms- Ferocious, greedy, starving, famished, edacious. Sentence – The lion was very ravenous, it did not eat all day, so it decided to hunt a nearby zebra.

  14. Parsimonious Definition – Frugal or stingy, tightfisted, penny-pinching. (adj.) Synonyms – Frugal, selfish, mean, greedy, prudent. Sentence – The little girl was very parsimonious when it came to sharing her toys, if you touched her toys she would smack and say “Don’t touch, all mines!”

  15. Virulent Definition – Highly deadly. (adj.) Synonyms – Deadly, fatal, harmful, unhealthy, poison. Sentence – Some spiders can be very virulent if they bite you, if you ever get bit by a red and black spider and you feel sick, rush to the emergency room.
