  5. 87% of Afghanis live in poverty • 83% of Afghanis have no access to safe water • 90% of Afghanis do not have access to sanitation • 70% of Afghanis are undernourished **Life expectancy in Afghanistan is 44** ( U.S. is 78)

  6. 23% of Afghanis will need food and health aid to survive winter • 13% of Afghani women and children who will need aid

  7. 60% of Afghani boys attend school • 3% of Afghani girls attend school • 53% of Afghani men are literate • 23% of Afghani women are literate **Schools for girls are often attacked by insurgents. In the last 6 months 16 schools have been bombed**

  8. The worst part? This is generally an IMPROVEMENT of what it was 15 years ago.
