  5. Golden Age of Islam • SOCIAL MOBILITY – Key concept here. • In order to have social mobility, you need an increase in resources. • International trade network emerges. • These things lead to advancements in art, architecture, learning, etc. • This is what a golden age means.

Muslims in India • Sultan- Muslim ruler in India. • Delhi Sultanate • Maurya and Gupta Empires (we didn’t talk about them) collapsed. • Muslims defeated Hindu armies and established a capital in Delhi (hence Deli Sultanate) • Cultural diffusion occurs • Several key leaders emerge • Akbar :-D • Jahangir/ NurJahan :-/ • Shah Jahan :-P
