What is it? • A new program for thirty (30) freshmen and (30) sophomores • Students will be “career ready” when leaving high school • An alternative to a traditional high school setting • A hands-on approach to earning industry certification while obtaining a high school diploma • A unique opportunity for students who want to pursue a career right out of high school if they want to NOT the “same old thing”

  3. What programs are there? CARPENTRY WELDING NURSING AUTOMOTIVE GRAPHIC TECHNOLOGY

  4. What will I do all day? • Take your high school diploma requirements on-line at the Riverview Opportunity Center. • Four years of math • Four years of English • Three years of science • Three years of social studies • PE/Health • History and Appreciation of the arts Kentucky Graduation Requirements BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE! Receive HANDS-ON career training at the Area Technology Center right next door!

  5. You’ll also be able to: • Have flexibility in your daily and weekly schedule • Receive training in financial literacy and entrepreuneurism • Participate in athletics at your home school • Ride a BCPS bus to and from school • Work side-by-side with other students who share the same interests as you! • Pursue internships, job experience or advanced training at Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC) during your junior and senior years. • Earn dual credit college credit in your technical field • Work at your own pace

  6. How do I apply? • See your guidance counselor for an application • Select which program(s) you are interested in • Get a letter of recommendation from one of your teachers or administrators • Write a short on-demand piece about why you want to be in a program like this • Have a reading MAP score of at least 216 • Participate in a personal interview • Get parental approval and permission

  7. Who will be selected for the CRC? NBHS BCHS BEHS APPLICATIONS RECEIVED FROM ALL SCHOOLS ** DUE ON MAY 5th ** STUDENTS SELECTED FOR INTERVIEWS THIRTY STUDENTS SELECTED BASED ON TOTAL SCORES
