  2. choice • What is choice? • Choice consists of the mental process of judging the merits of multiple options and selecting one or more of them. • Why do we give service users I choice in a health ? • So that they feel a sense of empowerment over their life's • How do we give service users a choice in health • Ask them if they need any painkillers on top of what they have to take • Example.. • If I had a Jehovah witness patient I will have to give them a choice because there religion doesn't permit blood transfusions so they have other options

Respect • What is respect ? • Respect means showing regard and appreciation for the worth of someone or something. • Why do we give service users respect in a health? • So that they will trust you and be able to speak to you about anything • Example.... • Speak to people older people with respect like you called them Miss and Mrs and Mr

  4. dignity • What is dignity ? • Having self dignity and self respect . • Why do we give service users dignity ? • Everybody has a right to have dignity and it is part of there work protocol to give them some dignity. • Example when you are getting changed or bathed you wouldn't want people to see you naked

Maintaining service users rights • What does maintaining service users rights mean ? • Keeping everything about them confidential and putting there information in computers that have a password . • Why do we give service users maintaining rights ? • So that peoples information would be between you and them and not get into the wrong hands. • For example if someone has a past of a drug addiction they would want anyone to see it but there therapist or a doctor .

  6. respect • By respecting elderly people you are fostering equality and diversity because everybody deserves respect

  7. Choice of food • Service user that are Muslim and cant eat pork should get a choice of chicken

  8. Dignity • By opening the curtains you don’t give service user dignity but closing the curtains you will make them feel like even though they cant do stuff for themselves they still have dignity

  9. Maintaining service users rights • Closing files about personal people that is maintaining people rights instead of opening peoples personal folders and letting anybody have access to peoples personal informatuion
