A budget is a formal written or unwritten plan that projects the use of assets for a future time. • 1. Budgeting allows a person to identify and track income and expenses. • 2. Budgets can categorize the use of cash in regards to necessities or luxuries. • 3. When income and expenses are recorded and tracked, estimates can be made as to how much is needed for the following week, month, or year. • 4. After establishing a well-organized budget, setting financial goals is easy.
