  1. GSMBASED AUTOMATIC POULTRY HOUSE CLIMATE CONTROL BY: SIRWANI COLLINS K REG NO: CEN/20/10 ABUBAKAR MAHMOUD REG NO: EC/1018/10

  2. TABLE OF CONTENT • Introduction • Problem statement • Objectives • Justification • Research/Methodology • Softwares and Hardwares • Expected Results

  3. INTRODUCTION • Poultry farming is the raising of domesticated birds such as chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese, for the purpose of farming meat or eggs for food. • Poultry farming is a major source of food and income in Kenya for both large and small scale farmers. • Careful monitoring and control of climatic conditions in poultry houses yields better productions.

  4. GSM based poultry house climate control aims at providing ease of control to small scale poultry farmers in the following areas: • Broilers • Layers • Hatcheries • Any other birds

  5. PROBLEM STATEMENT • Less produce due to unfavorable conditions for poultry farming. • Great losses to poultry farmers due to less produce. • Expensive sophisticated devices for climate control within the poultry house.

  6. OBJECTIVES • Develop a GSM based device that can be used to control most of the poultry house climatic parameters such as temperatures, humidity, light, airflow e.t.c to improve productivity of the poultry. • To develop a prototype of the device. • The device should be cheap and affordable to small scale farmers in Kenya.

  7. JUSTIFICATION • Poultry farming is an easy to setup business and many Kenyans are now doing it for both commercial and non-commercial purposes. • The project will enable small scale farmers to provide favorable conditions for the poultry house hence increased productivity. • The project uses ready-to-be found components hence making it cheaper.

  8. METHODOLOGY Problem analysis & Definition: Analysis of the existing system and ways of making it cheaper to make and increase functionality. Prototype Design: Designing in simulation softwares, identifying the required components and how the final model will look. Prototype Implementation: Includes fabrication of the simulated model to create the final hardware.

  9. SOFTWARES & HARDWARE • The following softwares will be used: • Proteus 8 proffessional • AVR studio • PSIM • The following hardwares will be used: • Sensors • Power supplies • GSM module • Acive and passive components • Displays • Others depending on the final model.

  10. EXPECTED RESULTS • A user friendly device that is capable of being used to control and monitor poultry house climate conditions automatically and also send data to the farmer. • A device that is capable of giving back information on the current state of the poultry house condition to the user. • A reprogrammable device that can be customized to meet the overall climatic conditions of a given area and also of different types and age of poultry birds. • Cheap and easy to produce in large scale device.
