  2. MOVEMENT AND DIMENSIONS The table below is a guide under which Thermospan expansion joints can safely operate. Under certain conditions the Thermospan expansion joint can handle movements greater than those indicated. Face to Face Standard Thermospan expansion joint manufactured dimensions. 150 230 300 400 Duct breech opening 140 215 280 380 Set Back Gage Standard 150 150 150 150 Movement StandardsAxial Compression 25 65 80 115 Axial extensions 13 13 25 25 Lateral offset (resultant) 25 65 80 115 Note: All dimensions are in millimetres and are approximate unless otherwise specified. Thermospan Expansion Joints Thermospan fabric expansion joints are custom-made for ducting applications where high temperature, moderate pressure, high abrasion and adverse chemical conditions apply. All unusual situations can be referred to Thermolag for recommendations. Our design engineers are available to give assistance in the field. APPLICATIONS Thermospan expansion joints excel in power generating plants in dry gas systems. They are also recommended for high-temperature exhaust gas systems in process plants, paper mills, steel mills, foundries, cement mills and in refinery and chemical plant applications that use scrubbers and precipitators. These compensators are suitable for vibration isolation of forced draft and induced draft fans. BAFFLING Internal baffles may be required to protect the inner ply from abrasive effects of particles. Thermolag will supply these plates. SERVICE Thermospan expansion joints in the 150°C – 900 °C range are used primarily on the cool side of the flue system or process lines where gas temperatures climb above the condensation dew point. Thermospan expansion joints are designed to match operating conditions for both continuous service - and excursion temperatures. EXTERNAL INSULATION Thermospan expansion joints contain their own internal insulation, therefore no external insulation is required. If external insulation is applied, it will severely limit the operating exclusion temperature capabilities.
