  2. Reminder - Kevin Oakhill’s of update 2009/10 • The new organisations which will replace the LSC are taking shape. (YPLA & SFA) • Local authorities are preparing themselves for the handover of funding and staff • Some colleges have had a small amount of additional funding for 16-18s – maybe worth asking if they need more Teams! (although it’s a long shot…) • Adult funding is still going to be tight – for those aged 19-25.

  3. 2010/11 – a reminder • Funding is transferring to local authorities for 14-19 year-olds. • Local authorities are grouped into clusters – there are 41 proposed clusters of authorities. One authority in each cluster will lead discussions with colleges and training providers. • Above this will be a national body called the Young People’s Learning Agency (YPLA) with 12 offices nationally. • Adult funding (19+) will come from the Skills Funding Agency (SFA). There will be 20 offices of this in England.

  4. Funding – Martina M has met with Lord Mandelson - BIS have since shown a great deal of interest in Team and want to know areas where funding is a problem. • Newsletter – did you see it? • New Employee role – single role • Uniformed employed Team member – price cut! • Website - Fire & Rescue Service page • Safeguarding • Progression Pathways

  5. Health and Safety update Almost all incidents and near misses on Team happen in 'down time' at residentials.

  6. Review on arrival at the residential centre that procedures are put in place for managing the use and storage of dangerous utensils for example kitchen knives. • Ensure that all risk assessments for your Teams have been fully completed. This must include individual risk assessments for relevant young people, including offenders, those with behavioural issues, those with mental health or individual needs.

  7. No second chances on residential for alcohol or drugs - all Team members should be clear on the rules on this before they go • Pre-plan your evening activities - so Team members are not left with spare time to wander off.
