  1. Geometry Date: 9/6/11 Section 1.6 pg 45-48 • Objective: SWBAT identify & name polygons, find perimeters. • Bell Ringer: pg 36 #4, 5; Discuss Chapter 1 Test • HW Requests:pg49 #13-31 odds as we go over FQ • HW: Read Section 2.1 pg 64 #1-9 odds • Read Section 2.2 through Ex. 1, 2, 3 • Tutoring After School Thurs. Ms. Harton • Announcements: Test make up on Wednesday • Tutoring make up week, Thursday. • Grades due Friday. Get in missing assignments. • Credit Benevolence 2 missing assignments can be turned in • for partial credit. Check your grades. All testing &assignments • must be completed and turned in by Wednesday 9/7 • Quiz Friday

  2. Fundamental Questions (FQ) • FQ – • 1. What is a polygon? Pg 45 • What are convex and concave polygons? • What is an n-gon? • What is a regular polygon? • You know what a perimeter is!!!!! Pay close attention to • Ex 3 and 4. • Exit Ticket! • Page 48 #5-10

  3. Geometry Date: 9/7/2011 • Objective: SWBAT make conjectures based on inductive • Reasoning and find counterexamples. SWBAT determine • Truth values of conjunctions and disjunctions. • Bell Ringer: pg 61 #2, 4, 6 • HW Requests: Questions as we cover material • Read Section 2.1 pg 64 #1-9 odds • Read Section 2.2 through Ex. 1, 2, 3 • HW: pg 64-65 #12-33 (every three) • pg 72-73 #19-29 (every three) • Using same statements p, q, and r, pg 73 #37 • Tutoring After School Thursday Ms. Harton • Missing Assignments. • Syllabus Return sheets due 9/16

  4. Fundamental Questions Pg 62-64 Section 2.1 • What is a conjecture? • An educated guess based on known information. • 2. What is the process of inductive reasoning? • Looking at several specific examples we come up • with/develop a conjecture, an educated guess or prediction. • 3. What is the false example? When is it used? • Counterexample- one false example that shows • a conjecture is not true. • Questions about homework • GP 64 #2, 6, 7, 8, 9

  5. Fundamental Questions Pg 67-69 Ex. 1 and 2 GP 4, 6, 7, 9 • What is a Statement and Truth Value? • Statement = Any sentence that is true or false but not both • Truth value – truth or falsity of a statement • If it is true then what is negation? Use not in your statement for negation. Truth value- both values, p and q must be true for the statement to be true. If p or q are false the statement is false. Truth value- either value can be true for a true statement. Either p or q true, makes a true statement. Both p and q must be false for a false statement.

  6. Geometry Date: 9/8/2011 • Objective: Students will create Venn Diagrams and • will analyze conditional statements • Do Now: pg 80 #52, 54, 56, pg 74 #60 • HW Requests: pg 64-65 #12-33 (every three) • pg 72-73 #19-29 (every three) • HW: Pg 73 #41-44; Pg 78 #16-26 evens • Read Section 2.3, Take Notes • Announcement: Quiz Friday • Syllabus Return sheets due 9/16 (signed portion due Friday)

  7. Geometry Date: 9/9/2011 • Objective: Students will analyze conditional statements, • i.e. converse, inverse, and contrapositive and identify basic • Postulates about points, lines, and planes.. • Bell Ringer: Mini –Quiz Five minute Check Section 2.1/2.2 • HW Requests: Pg73 #41-44; Pg 78 #16-26 evens • HW: pg 78 #34-44.
