What are the Different Types of NPT Coupling?

A coupling is essentially used for joining two tubes or pipes. These are short pipe-like structures with sockets at one or both ends. These are essentially available in both thread types -- NPT coupling and BSP coupling. Both of these are divided into two categories -- female coupling and male coupling. However, when it comes to types of couplings, there are two major categories that house various subcategories. <br>Looking for NPT coupling for your truck trailer applications? These are short pipe-like structures with sockets at one or both ends. These are essentially available in both thread types -- NPT coupling and BSP coupling. Both of these are divided into two categories -- female coupling and male coupling. However, when it comes to types of couplings, there are two major categories that house various subcategories. These are explored below. 1. Rigid Couplings Rigid couplings are called so because they allow no parallel or angular misalignment. They are used to connect two shafts in order to enable transfer of torque or motion at lower speeds. These types of BSP and NPT coupling are only used for aligned shafts operating at lower speeds. What’s more? These are the most economical type of coupling. The subcategories are:  Rigid sleeve or Muff Couplings  Flanged Coupling 2. Flexible Couplings Flexible couplings are more largely used than its rigid counterpart. This type of female coupling and male coupling is used to connect two misaligned shafts, making these a more versatile option. These are not just used to transmit torque but also to compensate for small misalignments between shafts. These are available in various types such as:  Flanged pin bush coupling  Bibby coupling  Gear tooth coupling  Oldhams coupling  Bellows coupling  Universal coupling  Tyre couplings  Elastomeric couplings Looking for NPT coupling for your truck trailer applications?
