  2. Chaos • She was a void of nothingness • Gave birth to Gaia, Tartarus and Eros. • Then came Nyx and Erebos • From Nyx and Erebos came Hemera and Aither Chaos

  3. Story of Chaos • At the beginning of time, Chaos was a primeval state of existence. • Gaia was the first to appear from Chaos. • Then came Tartarus, the underworld. • Eros came last. Eros was the embodiment of love. • Chaos then gave birth to Nyx, the night, and Erebos, the darkness. Family Tree of Chaos and The Other Gods

Ajax • Born because Hercules prayed to Zeus Prayed that Zeus would give Telamon a brave son. • Fought for Helen of Troy’s hand in marriage He lost in the competitions for marriage to Menelaus, the king of Sparta. • Fought in Trojan war Fought important battles including duels with Hector • Killed himself Suicide by falling on his sword Ajax killinghimself

Story of Ajax • During the Trojan war, Achilles was killed.Ajax and Odysseus went to retrieve his body • When they returned, they both claimed Achilles’ armour for themselves.Competition was held to see who would get it.Odysseus was awarded the armour • Ajax, drowned in sorrow and furious with the decision, fell on his sword. Io • Fair maiden that Zeus fell in love with • Zeus turned Io into a heifer(cow) • Hera demands the heifer as a present • Hera sent Io to Argus Panoptes Argus had one hundred eyes and was Hera’s trusted watchman • Hermes was sent to kill Argus and free Io • A gadfly stung Io • To honour Argus, Hera put some of the eyes on the tail of the peacock Argus Watching Io
