  1. Global Design and Manufacturing: The Future is Now

  2. Major Discussion Points • Some inconsistency in interpretation of Airworthiness Approval Tags and instructions for completion between different authorities • Expansion of a modular approach to certification (i.e. landing gear, avionics)? • Industry self certification? • Use by production approval holders of Industry Controlled Other Party (ICOP) Audits • Authority goal to eliminate duplicate / redundant activity (by different authorities) as much as possible. (e.g. all authorities accept what another has done)

  3. Reaction from the Floor • TSO is a certification and should not be used for PMA parts. • Airframe manufacturer should stay solely responsible for the entire airplane including installed systems (e.g. engine). Safety could be diluted by shifting responsibility down to a modular certification holder. • Modular certification: authorities should look at how to allow this without diluting the safety responsibilities of the OEM • Regulations should be brought in line with how business is being performed today.

  4. Outcomes/Additional Ideas • Continue collaboration between industry and authorities in the development of processes to accommodate global design and manufacturing.
