  • Clayton State existing MSN program-tracts education/leadership -90% on line

  • Traditionally low numbers

  • Approached Columbus and existing MSN educator program about partnering

  • Patterned after existing partnership online MED collaborative

  • Modified existing MED MOU 5 institutions


Vision purpose

Vision/Purpose

  • Vision - to create a partnership that would

    • allow for the sharing of resources

    • that would more effectively utilize faculty and

    • expand graduate education opportunities in Georgia

      Dynamic – Converted to 100% online, added partners, GOML, Erate

      Synergistic- effect on Columbus, GSW, $435,000 grant

  • Clayton begins 2006 – 6 students

  • Columbus joined in 2011

  • GSW joined in 2012

  • Total – 43 students

MOU/Agreement

  • Shared Curriculum, Separate Admissions

  • Grant graduate standing each faculty

  • Columbus and GSW granted permission to offer degree

  • Assignments are made annually

  • Tuition – payments made to School offering course

  • Georgia Board of Regents offered program

  • Currently no cost

    • Serve rural southwest Georgia region

    • Existing undergraduate program

      • RN-BSN offered online

    • Needs assessment results

      • Nursing shortage

      • Demand for higher level of preparation of nurses

      • Increased number of two year degree programs and RN-BSN programs

      • Growing nurse educator shortage

    • Barriers faced for program expansion

      • Faculty resources

      • Shrinking budgetary resources

    • Entered the agreement to join collaborative in Fall 2012

      • 9 students enrolled in first cohort

    • SACS approval by all programs

    • Each collaborative member school teaches minimum of 1/3 of curriculum

  • Nursing Accreditation Issues

    • Critical Decision-Making and Impact on Schools

      • One school currently holds accreditation with CCNE

      • Two schools applying for accreditation with CCNE

      • Option under consideration: Consortium Accreditation

    • Risks

      • Impact of loss of collaborative partner

      • Non-accreditation of one/more schools
