  5. Why Have an Academic Portfolio? • Justify an existing faculty appointment • Demonstrate rationale for promotions • Demonstrate competence to administer a grant • Demonstrate competence to accrediting agencies (ACGME, LCME) • Provide rationale for additional faculty appointments
