  1. Overview of the Leonardo project 2nd LEONARDO Workshop Brussels, June 7th and 8th, 2004

  2. General InformationLinking Existing ON ground, ARrival and departure Operations • Participants • Aena • Aéroports de Paris • Air France • DNA • EUROCONTROL • Iberia • Indra • Ineco • Isdefe • NLR • Sicta • Budget • ~8M€ • 50% funded by EC • V Framework Programme • Starting date • December 2001 • Duration • 28 months

  3. GROUND OPERATIONS PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT APTMS (AIRPORT TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS) ARRIVAL PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT DEPARTURE PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT Problem • Lack of efficiency in the context of airport arrival, departure and ground operations • Individual optimisation of airport processes • Currently existing airport planning and management tools do not cooperate

  4. LEONARDO Objective AIR OPERATIONS • Define the method to integrate existing planning tools for: • Arrival management • Departure management • Ground operations management • Demonstrate the feasibility of this integration FLOW CONTROL ARRIVAL PROCESS DEPARTURE PROCESS INTEGRATION LAYER GROUND OPERATIONS GMC AIRLINES GATE ALLOCATION

  5. How to achieve it? • Performing a full scale integration of existing tools at Barajas and CDG airports • Shadow mode trials with real traffic + possibility of RTS for Barajas • Making use of a Collaborative Decision Making Multi Agent (CDMMA) benchmark in a simulated environment (NLR-Amsterdam)

  8. Leonardo approach • 3 different levels of integration • Information sharing • Cooperation - Improvements in planning estimates • Negotiation among actors • 2 different validation techniques • Shadow mode trials • Real time simulations • 2 different testing airports • Barajas • Charles de Gaulle
