  2. DON’T PANIC! You will get your grade for Compare/Contrast Paper next hour • Review comments • What are the paper’s major flaws? • What can you do about them? • Evaluate your structure • Complete a Compare/Contrast Essay Review sheet on what you currently have (this is graded)

The Reading/Writing ConnectionChapter 8, pg • Analytical Reading • Bio/publication info • Title • 1st Reading – notes or no notes, just read! • Title / Paragraph 1 (setting expectations) • Main Point? (thesis) • Evidence to back up the thesis? (topic sent.s) • How is each argument explained • Organization • Flow/Coherence/Unity • Style and tone

  4. Put it to use! • Read “Our Youth Should Serve” pg 173 • Read article (handout) in groups

  5. The Final: Presentation/Exam • 3-5 minute presentation (you will be docked points if you go over 7 minutes) • Topic: one of the Major Papers you’ve written (worth 80pts or more) • Power point required • Not simply reading your paper to the class. • Prepare note cards, an outline, AND a power point so that you can refer to them briefly • Listeners will be graded on the quality and thoroughness of their peer evaluation (forms will be provided).
