  1. CPS Welcome to a new licensing model in SPLA

  2. License Cloud PlatformSuite LicensingIntended to be run in highlyvirtualized environments Host Licensed Separately Guest Per Instance Instance Rights Linux VMs The “host” is licensed separately per processor. Includes the Windows Server & System Center 2012 R2 “host” features + Windows Azure Pack (WAP) The “guest” is licensed per instance and can be run on any processor that is licensed for the Cloud Platform Suite “host” The “guest” license will give customers the rights to run 1 instance of Windows Server and for the instance to be managed by System Center 2012 R2 No “guest” fee is charged for Linux VMs running on the Cloud Platform Suite “host”

  3. Host and Guest Licenses The Host/Guest licensing model requires both host licenses and guest licenses, as well as SALs for users accessing certain guest software functionality.Host licenses are required for your “host fabric,” a collection of physical and virtual OSEs that are configured and operated as a unit to provide virtualization, networking, management, website and file services. Guest licenses are required for your guest virtual OSEs.

  4. Assigning Licenses Before you use the software for your Host Fabric, you must assign to each server in your Host Fabric one host license for each physical processor in the server. Each server to which you assign the required number of licenses is a “licensed host server.”

  5. Number of physical processors in the environment. = Host licenses X 2,50$Number of Instances of Windows Server in the Virtual environment= Guest licenses X 20$

  6. Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter, Core Infrastructure Suite Datacenter, and Cloud Platform Suite Monthly SPLA price for 4 servers with 2 Processors Servers WS DC only become interesting for this scenario when the partner has more than 40 Windows VM (guests) in this cluster Note: Prices are rounded and are for example purposes only Microsoft Confidential
