  1. Plan B Career Plan B Jessica Mackelden

  2. A day as a Travel Agent On a typical day at the office for a travel agent, you would arrive at work at 8:00am or 9:00am depending on the hours of the office you work in . Some office let you create your own hours. Then you would start by checking emails and out the new deals that are available. Then some clients would come in and ask for you to book them to a trip. You would have to help them decide where they want to go and what to do there, if they want it to be a relaxing trip or an adventurous trip. From there then you could start planning the trip with them, then you would keep looking to get them the best deals , and best flights as cheap as possible. Then you would be doing that and another client would call to check up on their travel plans , more clients would come in. Then depending on your office hours you could end your day at 5:00opm like most travel agencies close , or others close earlier and let you leave early.

  3. Working Conditions Hours are usually 8 hour days, 5 days a week; you don’t work on the weekend. Fridays you get to leave early most of the time unless it’s one of the busy times of year , like spring time and winter break around Christmas. Indoors.

  4. Salary Salary is starting 18$ an hour but soon picks up to higher wages right away. Within two year you would be making over 100,00 a year and you get discounts on all your flights and hotels , and travels that you may go on , you also get to go to places for free to “ try “ it out.

  5. Is it in demand? Its not a demand no because not all people travel and as the economy has its up and downs so will business , so its one of those jobs that will always have customers but maybe not as much every time.

  6. Education Experts predict that college degrees may become a part of working in this field. They recommend courses in history, geography, English and foreign languages, as well as business courses. A bachelor's degree aimed at travel and tourism prepares people to go into management. Even so, you'll still have to pay your dues as a front-line agent for at least a few years before you move on, notes Truman. Travel agents may also need to be certified by the Canadian Institute of Travel Counselors (CITC). This takes three years' experience and more course work. Computer experience is a definite asset in this field. Almost all travel agents work with computers to make reservations and to get the latest information on rates and schedules. Travel agencies also provide on-the-job training for their employees, a significant part of which includes computer instruction. For any of the courses history, geography, English and foreign languages as well as business courses can be taken at any university. But to take the specific travel agent course you can take it at the a lot of different school but I would take it at one of the following; Online travel agent course in Alberta Online travel agent course in Vancouver Online travel agent course in Florida

  7. Three Related Careers Flight Attendant because you both need most of the same courses Realtor because you would do most of the same work with computers and answering phones Accountant , would be a little bit more schooling but your still working with computers

  8. Why are you interested in this Career? I've been interested for a while because I like to travel lots and with being a travel agent you get to travel more and try out new places and resorts, plus you get the bonus of it being half the price and getting great discounts. I also would want to be one because you also get to help people travel which I think is neat , because it’s a great experience to be able to see different cultures and interact with people around the world .
