Lohia Group: A leading Name in The Manufacturing Industry of India Today it is possible for entrepreneurs to venture into the manufacturing industry as there is abundance of advanced technologies and new niche products. In not so distant past, starting a manufacturing business was considered an uphill task. Lack of innovation and costly capital expenditures were the prime factors that discouraged manufacturing.

  3. Lohia Group: Then and Now • In 1982 in Kanpur, Lohia Group was founded by Raj Kumar Lohia. Raj started the company with the manufacturing of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plastic machinery and later moved on to producing plastic woven bags and industrial sewing threads.  • Lohia Group has carved a niche for itself in the competitive market as a leader in the textiles and packaging space. There are seven companies under it - Lohia Corp, Lohia Global Solution, Threads India Limited, Lohia Aerospace, Injectoplast, TTRC, and Lohia Health.  • It is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of machinery and equipment for the plastic woven sack industry in terms of quantum and has a wide presence across the world, especially in Europe. Lohia Group boasts of a turnover of over Rs 1,000 crore and employs around 2,000 people.  • Lohia Group recently made moves to venture into the aerospace and healthcare sectors too by acquiring Israel-based Light and Strong Ltd.

There is a huge rise in the demand for face masks, the only known way to keep Covid 19 at bay. • The N95 masks are safe but not breathable whereas cotton masks are breathable but not safe. To address this predicament, Lohia Group to make masks antiviral and antibacterial in tandem with a European formulation company that makes the mask antiviral and antibacterial. • This led to the launch of Lohia Health in March 2020.Thus, Lohia group diversified into a new territory which is highly diversified from its earlier foray into manufacturing jumbo bags. This seals the company’s ideology of reaching new heights without forgetting the roots.
