There are only internships or participation in temporary projects available for young graduates • Status quo: • NL: many get permanent jobs; many need working experience • RU: situation for young graduates very difficult; job agency - pays one year if jobs for three years; • F: possibility of getting a job depends on parents and their education and possibilities UWE-Meeting 2009

There are only internships or participation in temporary projects available for young graduates • Status quo: • GB: inequality in favour of males; strict labour laws  high prevalence of unsecured jobs - some permanent positions but fewer than before; cut backs in academic posts create very serious problems, with highly educated young people making their training 28.09.2014 UWE-Meeting 2009

There are only internships or participation in temporary projects available for young graduates • Status quo: • Even in universities or in government institutions there are only one year contracts: no maternity leave; no pension rights; no unemployments security • problematic for women due to anticipated breaks in employment to child rear 28.09.2014 UWE-Meeting 2009

There are only internships or participation in temporary projects available for young graduates • How to reach the target: • RO: NGOs should make lobby for this matter • NL: find some way in which participation in temporary projects can count towards career progression • EU-Institutions pay interns like the European Comission

Higher Flexibility of the Labour Market and Atypical Employment Situations • Status quo: • UK: companies have to grant mothers part time jobs; you can negotiate with employer • FL: birthrates fear of being left alone • Sometimes attractive to young people • unproductivity because of constant searching for a new job UWE-Meeting 2009

Balancing career and family duties at the time of globalisation • Status quo: • Problem applies especially to highly qualified professions • Women work twice as much as men – do the housework – should be superwoman • Women have pressure from all sides • Women work for the family – men for themselves UWE-Meeting 2009

Balancing career and family duties at the time of globalisation • Target: • Create good living condition and education possibilities in each country employing foreign labours. • sharing responsibilities – reaching a higher acceptance to help women • Double income  pay someone for the homework, change the attitude to domestic help

Balancing career and family duties at the time of globalisation • Target: • Raise awareness of more women to the importance of choice and the necessity for humanity to stop having one half sacrificing itself • Women can make maternity leave without loosing career status • Higher rate of fathers take care of the children
