    1. Alibt Alibata! The script of the Ancient Filipinos By, Melissa Salvador S melis sl+vdo

    2. What is it? Ano Iyn+ It’s a phonetic writing system (more similar to the English/European systems than the mainland Asian systems, which are WAY more complex) Unfortunately, there are no punctuation marks in the original system. It looks infinitely times better/cooler than the written English language.

    3. So how does it work? Pano Ito gumgn You string different symbols together to make words! (simple, right?) Put spaces between words so people can distinguish them. (some people use /’s instead) Since the Alibata system was developed alongside the languages of the Philippines, it makes sense to use Alibata with those languages, and not with ……….English.

    4. What are those extra lines for? Ano ay aN+ m+g dg+dg+ n m+g lin+y Oh, you mean these? They’re the difference between sounds. And the crosses? aN+ m+g ar+dil+y kumIn+ N donut at+ puno B=Ba bee=Be/Bi bo=Bo/Bu They cancel out the vowel So B=Ba becomes b+==B

    5. The Cross b+ It’s not a part of the original Alibata. Spanish priests/friars created it so that Alibata would be easier to read. This was before Spain got fed up with our vastly different culture and changed our names.

    6. Who, what, why? Alibata was first carved into thin strips of bamboo. The earliest signs of Alibata turn out to be records of expenses. In the early days of Spain’s tyranny, friars went out to see who was literate. They talked to a whole bunch of our ancestors and did some number crunching. Q#1: Can you guess how many native men were literate in Alibata?

    7. ANSWER #1: Only around 30% Q#2: Can you guess how many native women were literate in Alibata?

    8. ANSWER #2: Above 70 percent! Cause guys are stupid. Because women were the ones conducting the business. This might explain why most Filipinas are known/tend to be more headstrong/less passive than most gals of other Asian ………ethnicities.
