  1. Tip to Get Rid of the Moss in Your Lawn

  2. Having moss in your garden or lawn is very common thing but if you can’t stand sight of the moss then here are some tips that will help you to remove the moss from your lawn. • Scarification: Scarification which is also known as the dethatching is a process that removes loose moss and other compact organic material from your lawn by vigorously raking or agitating. In case of a small lawn this process can be done by hand very smoothly. In case of a larger lawn either you can rent a power rake or you can get a dethatching blade for your lawn mower. After you manage to remove the moss from your lawn get rid of it quickly.

  3. Shade loving plant: The areas which have heavy shade are a good place for the moss to grow. If your lawn has that kind of area then one way to prevent growth of the moss is to plant flowers and other plant that love to grow in the shade. And some of these shade loving plants are astilbe, brunnera, heuchera, hostas, hellebore, ferns, hydrangea, pulmonaria, and tiarella etc. • Let the Sunlight come to your lawn: For the purpose of lawn moss control, you can decrease the amount of moss by letting more sunlight fall in your lawn as moss need shady area to grow. To do this you will need to clear removable obstacle such as piles of firewood, bricks, or other debris etc that block the sunlight to reach your lawn.

  4. Excessive water is not a good option for your lawn: Areas that have heavy moisture is very ideal for the growth of moss. So to maintain the amount of moss in your lawn try not to excessively water your lawn. Growth of moss is very persistent in the early fall or spring, so during that time avoid watering your lawn especially at night. But little moisture can affect the growth of your grass and the lawn will become very vulnerable to the moss. So make sure the water is sufficient for grass but not overly excessive. Prevent lawn injuries: If you treat your lawn too roughly then the grass in the lawn start to become weak and as a result moss will start to take over your lawn. Most of the lawn injuries are due to playing sports or ride a bike in your yard or may be your dog that loves to dig in your lawn, so try to avoid these kinds of things to happen in your lawn to control the moss.
