  1. Mid-Year Presentation By: Haylie Thomsen

  2. About My Project • This year, for my 8th grade project, I’ve picked to build a computer for school and non-school related subjects. • The computer will have a processor to make the speed of the computer faster, and the computer will also have a powerful video card to make my games run smoothly.

  3. My Mentor • My mentors name is Greg Thomsen. • He works for Comcast, so he knows a lot about technology.

  4. What I Did In September • I met with my mentor and we looked on Newegg to see the computer kits. • We found different kits, but the processers on all of them weren’t good.

  5. What I Did In October • In October my mentor and I wrote a letter to my friends and family. • I also sent out the letters.

  6. What I Did In November • In November my mentor and I finally found a compute kit on Newegg. • We also looked at keyboards and mice.

  7. Progress Update • Over the past 3-4 (September, October, November, and December)months, I have made a ton of progress. • I have found a computer kit with a fast processor/ graphics card (AMD A10-5800K 3.8GHz Quad Core)

  10. This is the computer kit, keyboard, and mouse.

  11. My Goals • My goals for next semester are: to have all the financial support collected, have the computer components ordered, finally assemble the computer, have the computer work, and install computer software.

  12. Finance • The computer kit that I have found, the keyboard, and the mouse all together is around $429.77, this includes shipping. • So far through these past couple of months I have made $76.89.
