No Commercial Strategic Influence • Program requests are received and signed by an educational or medical professional “Host” (MD, RN, Director of CME, etc) • The “Host” is the point of contact with the logistical provider, PPC Communications • Commercial supporters provide supplemental distribution of local program invitations as permissible by ACCME

Content Development: Process • Educational topics/slide presentations are determined by needs assessments, educator recommendations and regional CME/CE program attendees evaluations • Content is produced by Simply Speaking faculty, evaluated by an independent reviewer and finally approved by the RUMC Course Director in accordance with ACCME Guidelines

Content Development: Faculty • Content development faculty selection is based on: • Accreditor recommendations • Existing faculty recommendations • Proven therapeutic expertise • Extensive publication within credible journals/media • Known credibility • Revolving faculty process keeps the content new, fresh and with various expert perspectives

Slide Presentations: Levels of Flexible Use • Slide presentations are not created based on a standard 1 hour “pre-packaged” lecture (although they could be presented as such) • A typical presentation contains 60-80 slides • More slides allow the educator flexibility to customize their specific presentations to tailor to their specific interests, local issues and/or audience needs

  17. Content Development: Levels of Flexible Use • Additional flexibility is offered through the option of deleting, adding and re-ordering slides • Parameters for flexible customization of slide presentations follows on the next 2 slides

  18. Content Development: Levels of Flexible Use 1. Exact Use • Exact use of one of the approved slide sets available for Simply Speaking™(No prior approval necessary) 2. Modified Use • Adapted use of one of the approved slide sets based on slide deletions and reordering (No prior approval necessary) 3. Blended Use • Use of a mixture of slides from two or more of the approved slide sets (No prior approval necessary)

Customized Use • Use of a mixture of slides from one or more of the approved slide sets with speaker incorporated custom slides. • A custom slide kit will need to be provided 2 weeks in advance • Must be approved by Independent Reviewer • All new slides should be noted as “NEW” in the upper right hand corner

Content Development: Levels of Flexible Use • No more than 5 new or modified slides may be added to the CME approved deck by an educator • The addition of patient cases are permissible, encouraged and will notbecounted as part of the 5 slides. • The only guidelines the speaker must adhere to are as follows: • The program must stay within the topic area • The program must achieve the learning objectives • Content must remain fair balanced

SAMPLE: REQUIRED SLIDE Accreditation & Designation Statements Rush University Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. RUSH University Medical Center designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. The Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) is an approved provider of continuing education in nursing by the Virginia Nurses Association Continuing Education Approval Committee, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. The University of Florida College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education (UPN # XXX-XXX-XX-XXX-LXX-P). This slide kit is accredited for one hour of continuing education credit. The University of Florida College of Pharmacy will mail Statements of Continuing Education Credit within 30 working days after receiving evidence of successful completion of the course. Successful completion means that you must attend the entire program and complete an evaluation form. This program is accredited for case managers through the Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC). To have clock hours added to your certification file, please submit the verification of completion form provided by your host directly to CCMC.
