A ‘Plug’ for Electric Vehicles!

Help shape the growth of electric vehicles in and around Newcastle by providing charging point infrastructure and acting as a demonstrator for electric vehicles. Newcastle City Council is the lead delivery partner for Plugged in Places in the North East, with a commitment to install 580 public charging points across the region.

Going forward • Continue to act as a demonstrator for electric vehicles and associated infrastructure • In-house review of utilisation of electric vehicle applications • Investigate alternative applications to electric vehicle use such as freight consolidation deliveries • Monitor usage of charging point installations to help guide future investment • Promote electric vehicle uptake through our travel planning activities and wider engagement with residents across the city • Investigate alternative fuel options for our fleet operations
