  4. Possible intoxicationeffects: • Increased alertness and energy • Euphoria • Hyperactivity • Restlessness • Anxiety • Increased heart rate/ breathing rate • Elevated blood pressure

  5. Possible health consequences: • Nervousness • Irritability • Panic • Aggressive behavior • Confusion • Loss of awareness of reality • Kidney/liver damage • Heart failure • Death

  6. 2. Depressants • Rohypnol, GHB, Ketamine • Tranquilizers • Pain medications

  7. General Characteristics of Depressants: • How is it taken? • Swallowed • Injected • Possible intoxication effects : • Euphoria • Reduced anxiety • Loss of inhibitions • Drowsiness

  8. Possible health consequences: • loss of coordination • Slurred speech • Confusion • Slowed heart rate • Dangerously slow breathing • Loss of consciousness • Loss of memory • Coma • Death
