  4. Organisation • Trip booked with ‘Isle of Wight Experience’ • The ‘Isle of Wight Experience’ are based on the island and can sort any problems. • They organise: • Coach Travel • Ferry crossing (Portsmouth to Fishbourne) • Hotel • Entrance to the attractions

  5. Hotel • Corner House Hotel, Sandown. • Chester Lodge Hotel, Sandown. • Provide breakfast, evening meal and packed lunches • Exclusive to our party • Vetted by ourselves and the ‘Isle of Wight Experience’, including staff CRBs.

  6. Visits • Osborne House • Carisbrooke Castle • Amazon World • Robin Hill Countryside Adventure Park • Alum Bay including boat trip • Theatre, Shanklin • Blue Reef Aquarium, Portsmouth

  7. Plus… • Beach visit and games • Fieldwork diaries • Artwork • Disco

  8. Costs • The trip costs £275 • You are able to pay in instalments using the parent pay system. Pay-point payments can be set up if required • We need a £60 deposit to be paid by the 30th November and the full balance to be paid by 6th June • We recommend a maximum of £15 spending money • Financial assistance may be available; please see Mr Tharia for details

  9. Risk Assessment • Safety is our major concern • Each site visit on the trip has its own risk assessment and are shared with all the adults • We have general risk assessments for coach travel, crossing the road etc. • These have been carried out by teachers on pre-visits and each attraction has to have its own risk assessment

  10. Staffing • The 2 groups will be led by Mrs Toppin and Miss Pembridge • 1 other qualified teacher plus another member of staff • There will be an invitation to parents to accompany us on the trip. We will probably need a maximum of 3. • There will be a ratio of approx 1:8 for the group.

  11. Medical issues • We have been able to accommodate every medical condition/issue on previous visits so will expect to be able to do so again • It is important you provide accurate medical information • Children will be able to bring medicines etc which adults will look after and administer, including travel sickness pills

  12. Our expectations • Children who are poorly behaved in school before the trip may not be allowed to go. This is mainly for safety reasons, as children do need to follow instructions carefully. • Children are polite and courteous to anyone they come across. • Children behave appropriately in all situations (including meal times!)

  13. Our expectations • Children should be able to use a knife and fork • They should be able to organise their possessions for a day out and not forget important things • Children need a degree of common sense

  14. What next? • Return form and pay deposit by 30th November. • We will send out a medical form prior to the trip, which needs to be completed in detail. • Kit lists will be sent out in March (Both these forms will be available on our Website: www.elmbridgejuniorschool.co.uk)
