  4. Clinical Policies & Requirements • Attendance Policy: All students are expected to come to clinic on time.  In the event of an absence the student is responsible for making up any missed clinical hours within that semester. Make up hours must be scheduled with the clinical coordinator.  • **Any student having more than 2 un-excused absences or two tardies within a semester will have their grade reduced by 5% of the final earned grade. • ** Any student having 5 absences or more of any kind and/or tardies within a semester will have their grade reduced by 10% of the final earned grade. • ** Any student having more than 6 absences and/or tardies to clinical within a semester will fail clinical for the semester, regardless of a passing clinical average.

  5. Clinical Policies & Requirements The specific parts which comprise the clinical grade are made up of the following components: (each is worth 1/3% of the final grade) • Check-off & Competency Examinations Students will be allowed a maximum of three attempts per examination. All attempted grades will be averaged and the final averaged grade used to calculate grades for that semester based upon the contract. • Clinical Instructor Evaluations 3. Clinical Rotation Evaluations

  6. Clinical Policies & Requirements PATIENT CARE STATEMENT Students who receive two or more failing rotation or CI evaluations may be placed on clinical probation or recommended for dismissal from the program, regardless of a passing clinical averagefor that semester. Students whose receive CI or rotation evaluations stating that they are below standards with regards to patient care, safety, and/or radiation protection are of particular concern and will be evaluated on a case by case basis. The same is true for evaluations that are failing due to clinical performance of exams that the student has received competency in. The program’s clinical coordinator can recommend either a probationary period or dismissal from the program with regard to the above statement. The Program Director will review recommendations and associated evaluations and make a decision for probation or dismissal.

  7. Clinical Policies & Requirements CLINICAL CONDUCT STATEMENT If a student is found using inappropriate language, gestures, or overall disrespectful conduct in the clinical areas to patients, technologists, clinical instructors, or fellow students, they may be placed on clinical probation or dismissed from the program, regardless of a passing clinical average for that semester. **If a student is placed on clinical probation for any of the reasons stated in the Patient Care Statement or the Clinical Conduct Statement above, they must sign a probation statement which gives them a time period for which they will work to improve the behavior/performance. At the end of the time period, they will be re-evaluated, and if they have not improved, they will be dismissed from the program, regardless of a passing clinical average. **If a student refuses to sign the probation statement, they will be immediately dismissed from the program, regardless of a passing clinical average.

  8. Clinical Policies & Requirements INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY The website is the first method of notification of PVCC closings, which is www.pvcc.edufollowed by local television stations, then local radio stations (both FM and AM). The following phone numbers will also have delay/closing information: PVCC main phone: 434.977.3900 PVCC Inclement weather/emergency message line: 434.971.6673 Due to the unpredictable nature of Virginia's weather, PVCC may be required to close or delay opening. If a delay announcement is made, that delay is based on an 8 a.m. opening time. In the event of a delay, you should attend the class that is in progress at the time you arrive at the campus. For example, if the college is on a 2-hour delay, you would arrive at the campus at 10 a.m. to attend your 10 a.m. class (not your 8 a.m. class.)
