Many think it is something of the past now but sadly it still remains in the sports world, showing its ugly head on occasion. Racism occurs in both team and individual sports around the world. It has led to a wide range of controversial incidents which have been reported mostly in the media. The sport itself does not induce racism. The people that participate in the playing, organization, and implementation of sports bring racism into sports. However, there will be no sport without the people from the society. So its important to take into account that sport as one of the biggest institutions in many societies, its part of the society and reflects society.

  12. “As Nelson Mandela has preached and supported, sport is a powerful tool for changing unacceptable behaviors and promoting inclusive societies”. The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practisingsport, without discrimination of any kind , which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play....Any form of discrimination with regard to a country or a person on grounds of race, religion, politics, gender or otherwise is incompatible with belonging to the world of sports.
