  1. The Features That You Might Want To Consider In Your Next Smart Tv You’ve almost certainly heard of them, and a lot of your friends and colleagues might well have one. We are, of course, referring to smart TVs, otherwise sometimes called Internet TVs or Wi-Fi TVs. In short, they’re Internet-connected televisions that give you all manner of online features – but what features tend to typify a smart TV, and which ones should you seek in the next one you buy? Here are a few of the most obvious ones. Built-in Wi-Fi An easy way to understand what a smart TV is, is to think of your smartphone and consider what a TV would be like if it had all of those ‘smart’ features beyond the basic reason you purchased the device in the first place (so in the case of a phone, something to call someone with, and as far as a TV is concerned, something to watch your favourite programmes on). So of course, wireless connectivity is a must-have in a true smart TV. Look for the term ‘built-in Wi-Fi’, then, when you’re comparing TVs. Our 32” Superfast Smart LED TV with built-in DVD Player is a fine example of such a ‘true’ Wi-Fi TV, giving you the ability to download your favourite apps to your TV. Access to a wealth of apps As anyone who has ever owned a smartphone – we’re guessing that’s almost all of us these days – will know, what makes such devices so addictive is the astonishing range of apps that can be downloaded to them, using the aforementioned Wi-Fi.

  2. Well, we can definitely tick that box here at Ferguson. Even our more value-oriented 22” Smart Full HD Traveller TV with Satellite Tuner, for instance, enables you to download literally thousands of apps to your TV, including such favourite entertainment apps as BBC iPlayer, Netflix and All 4. Superb picture quality Given all of the terms that seem to fly around these days in relation to TV picture quality, it can be tricky to know what you’re getting for your money if you aren’t at least vaguely knowledgeable about some of the technical aspects of selecting a Wi-Fi TV. Some of our own high-end smart TVs, for example, are marked as not only 4K or Ultra HD, but also ‘HDR’. This stands for High Dynamic Range, and refers to one of the latest ‘big things’ for 4K entertainment. It’s an acronym that was already familiar in the photography world, and relates to a technique to heighten the dynamic range of a picture – in other words, the contrast between the brightest whites and the darkest blacks. Such a technology could help to give you an even more authentically cinematic experience from your Wi-Fi TV, and is offered on such TVs as our own spectacular 65” Superfast Smart 4K HDR TV with Wi-Fi and Freeview T2 HD. Ferguson is the brand to trust for smart TVs Naturally, these are just some of the technologies that could serve you well on your own next smart or Wi-Fi TV, with others including built-in Freeview T2 HD channels, HDMI inputs for connecting external devices and USB ports for recording TV or playing saved media They’re all functions that are well worth considering, and which could help to bring you and your family’s TV viewing experience firmly into the 2020s.
