The generic tasks: • Liaising with parents re particular, current issues e.g behaviour, attendance • General contact and community-building with parents • Providing classroom support to individual students • Dealing with particular issues (eg behaviour management) for individual students • Developing appropriate programs in collaboration with teachers • Developing and maintaining interagency links and support • Provide cross-cultural awareness training to staff • Provide advice to decision-makers in the school • Preparing classroom resources with Indigenous perspectives • Responding to teachers’ request for information/ support re individual students / curriculum • Things outside the Position Description

  14. At the end of the day, it wasn't so much the strategy, what teachers did, that made the difference — it was what they believed. And the way to change what non-Indigenous people believed was get them to engage in conversations with Aboriginal people

  15. What might I learn from my IEW that I might not learn from another school worker?
