  1. Improvement to Control and Reliability in Power systems(Frequency regulation) Amr Kamal Prof AndrzejOrdys , DrOlga Duran Kingston University UKACC PhD Presentation Showcase

  2. Keep it 50 Hz! Please! Introduction • Frequency regulation UKACC PhD Presentation Showcase

  3. How to make wind turbines “Grid Frequency friendly” ? • Variable speed wind turbines • Inertial control • Reverse control UKACC PhD Presentation Showcase

  4. Control system • Classical approach : using either PD controller or P controller with reset filter. Simplified Model for DFIG and FPC wind turbine with supplementary control loops for fast primary response UKACC PhD Presentation Showcase

  5. Results + Future work  • Propose a control approach replaces entirely the frequency regulation and the speed regulation loops in the classical approach. • Work on multi-area system and for turbulent wind speeds. Results: Simulation showing that the proposedscheme improves the frequency response after a sudden changes in load. MPC controller Δf dΔf/dt UKACC PhD Presentation Showcase
