  2. How they Met • Long ago in 1608, is where our story begins…….. Native Americans were walking home after hunting and gathering food, when they saw others. “Look people !” said one of the Native Americans. Everyone looked puzzled at one another. “Halt! Who are you people?” demanded the chief. “We are settlers, and plan to settle on this land,” said one of the settlers . ”And who are you may I ask ?” said another . “I am the chief of this small tribe,” answered the chief.

  3. Learning New Things • Later that day one of the tribe members asked the chief, “Where will these people stay?” The chief took no time to answer, “They will build their houses over there close to our tribe.” As they were building the houses for the settlers to live in, a Native American asked a settler, “Why did you come here?” A settler answers, “We came here because our king made all of us believe in the same religion . Some of us didn’t think that that law was fair, and if anyone objected to the law, they would be hanged or worse, so we came here to live on free land !” The Native American was awestruck. “You guys are welcome to stay!” the chief said.

  4. Something Happens • The next day…… “Chief ! We have no food!” cried one of the settlers. “How are we supposed to get food?!” cried the other . A member of the tribe shows the settlers how to plant. “First, you get these seeds and put them in the dirt. Then, you water them and wait for them to grow into vegetables like corn .” Later that day…… “We can’t hunt!”cried the chief. We ate all our plants and……oh I bet the settlers hunted the meat. The Native American tribe walked straight to the settlers house. Once inside, both Native Americans and Settlers began to ague. “This means war!” yelled the chief.

  5. A Resolution • Both side shook on it. It was war, Native Americans vs. Settlers. Not that they wanted war, it had just come to that . Both sides were ready. They charged, all at once, except for one Native American member. She was confused, but soon realized what was happening. She grabbed a cone-shaped object an yelled inside it. “STOP!!!” The words were perfectly clear. “Let’s get along and don’t have wars. Please?”she had asked no one in particular . Another member stepped up, “I agree. We could all be happy and share our food. That is better than death caused by war.” Everyone agreed. The next day they had a feast. They thanked one another and ate until they were full.

  6. The End • And that’s the end of the story about two groups becoming friends, then enemies, then best friends.
