Group 12 Recent History (1990’s) Group 12: Engineering Area 12a: Pilot Plants •No other programming area in the group • Two Sessions in Annual and National Meetings • Pilot Plant Committee/Area scope was broadened • General sense of need to expand beyond Pilot Plants - upstream / downstream of Process Development activities - University contributions

Proposal for Rearrangement of Group 12 • •At the November ‘96 Chicago Committee Meeting, Prabir Basu • proposed to change the name of the group and to create new areas: • - The Committee agreed to propose to AIChE to change the group name from EngineeringtoProcess Development • - New areas were proposed and discussed • •The proposal was submitted to the AIChE National Program Committee (J. Cramer) and subsequently was approved by EBPC (Executive Board of Program Committee)

  4. Proposed Structure for Group 12 • •At the March ‘97 Houston Committee Meeting, the new structure of the group was agreed upon: • •It was agreed that in addition to the Pilot Plant Area (now 12b), Area 12a (Process Research and Innovation) will be activated immediately.
