  2. What is TOK? • One of the compulsory core elements in the IB Diploma Programme besides Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS)

  3. What is TOK? • Course about critical thinking • Encourages students to: • think about the nature of knowledge • to reflect the process of learning in all subjects and to make connections across them

  4. What is TOK? • Curriculum overview • Knowing about knowing • The ways of knowing • The areas of knowledge

  5. What is TOK? • Guides students to become embodiments of IB Learner Profile

  6. TOK lessons • Lessons are held by TOK teachers alone and in collaboration with other IB subject teachers

  7. TOK essay • Essay on a prescribed title from a list of six titles • Maximum length for the essay is 1600 words • Planning and progress form (TK/PPF) for each student (ManageBac) • Externally assessed by the IBO

  8. TOK presentation • One presentation to the class by an individual or a group (max three persons) • Approximately 10 minutes of presentation time per student • Presentation planning document (TK/PPD) for each student (ManageBac) • Internally assessed by the school’s TOK teachers

  9. TOK assessment • TOK essay 0–10 marks • Points are doubled • TOK presentation 0–10 marks • TOK essay weights 67% and TOK presentation 33% in the assessment

  13. Schedules • IB1 YEAR • 1st period: TOK1 • 2nd to 5th period: TOK2 • IB2 YEAR • 2nd period: TOK3 • 3rd period: TOK4 PRACTICE PRESENTATION FINAL ESSAY FINAL PRESENTATION + PRACTISING WITH THE ESSAY
