  1. Words Are Powerful • (Ephesians 6:17) • And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; (NKJV)

  2. Words: Power to Lead to Salvation; Power to Kill • (Matthew 10:28) • "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (NKJV)

  3. The Tongue: Little Member, Great Power • (James 3:5-6) • Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. (NKJV)

  4. “Story Tellers”

  5. We are warned about some “story tellers”… • (Luke 18:9) • Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: (NKJV)

  6. The Dangers of Pharisaical Teaching • (Matthew 6:5) • "And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. (NKJV)

  7. The Dangers of Pharisaical Teaching • (Matthew 23:3-7) • "Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. "For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. "But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. "They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, "greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, 'Rabbi, Rabbi.' (NKJV)

  8. False Stories Can Cause Harm • (Matthew 26:58-61) • But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest's courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end. Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward and said, "This fellow said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.'" (NKJV)

  9. Tall Story Tellers • (Matthew 27:12) • And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing. (NKJV)

  10. Tall Story Tellers • (2 Timothy 3:1-6) • But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, (NKJV)

  11. Tell the True Story…Expose False Teachers! • (Ephesians 5:11) • And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. (NKJV) • (2 Thessalonians 3:6) • But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us. (NKJV) • (2 Thessalonians 3:14) • And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. (NKJV)

  12. The Lord’s people should tellers of God’s story. • (Matthew 26:35) Peter said to Him, "Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!" And so said all the disciples. (NKJV)

  13. The Lord’s people should tellers of God’s story. • (Matthew 26:69-75) • Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, "You also were with Jesus of Galilee." But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are saying." And when he had gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, "This fellow also was with Jesus of Nazareth." But again he denied with an oath, "I do not know the Man!" And a little later those who stood by came up and said to Peter, "Surely you also are one of them, for your speech betrays you." Then he began to curse and swear, saying, "I do not know the Man!" Immediately a rooster crowed. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." So he went out and wept bitterly. (NKJV)

  14. The Lord’s people should tellers of other people’s stories. • (Romans 3:20) • Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. (NKJV)

  15. The Lord’s people should tellers of other people’s stories. • (Ephesians 4:21-24) • if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. (NKJV)

  16. Those Who Obey the Gospel Will Sing a “New Song” (Story) • (Revelation 14:3) • They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. (NKJV)
